JD Vance answered a young Republican woman’s question about being priced out of a home by cracking a joke about Senator Jon Husted’s backside.

The vice president was taking questions at a Fox News town hall taped in Fort Worth, Texas, and aired Thursday night on Jesse Watters Primetime, five days before the midterms.

Kate White, vice president of the Turning Point USA chapter at Texas Christian University, told Vance her generation is pushed to marry young and have as many children as possible while a house stays out of reach.

‘How does the right and yourself expect us to start families young when the average price of a home in America now costs more than $415,000,’ she asked.

Vance thanked her for the question, then started counting before drifting to another topic.

He said he had fielded four or five questions all night and ‘only been asked one question about Jon Husted’s a*s,’ and that one had come from Watters.

Watters laughed and protested that it was what everyone was talking about, prompting Vance to tell him to run for Senate in Texas as a Democrat.

The gag is in reference to a joke Donald Trump has been pushing over the last month. It all started when the president told supporters at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, that he had sized up the former college cornerback and ‘looked at his ass.’

Critics on social media branded Vance insensitive and accused the vice president of failing to take the young woman’s question about affordability seriously.

One user on X wrote, ‘”We can’t afford a home.” “Durr John Husted’s ass am I right guys?” JD Vance is the worst politician ever.’

Sarah Matthews, a deputy press secretary in Trump’s first White House, said that she could not believe it was ‘a real exchange between a voter and the Vice President of the United States.’

Jon Favreau, Barack Obama’s former speechwriter, asked his X followers: ‘How is this real and how is he this bad at politics?’

Vance did eventually answer the young woman’s question by admitting Republicans do not pay enough attention to affordability for young people, though he casted himself as the exception.

He blamed illegal immigration and Wall Street investors buying up houses.

The town hall aired five days out from an election that forecasters say could cost Republicans their majorities in the House and Senate.

Voters have put cost of living at the top of the ballot, and Trump has spent the closing stretch calling the affordability crisis a ‘hoax.’
