Popular Ghanaian stand-up comedian DKB has reacted to a Bloomberg report declaring the Ghana cedi the world’s worst-performing currency in the third quarter of 2025.

The report, which made waves on September 4, 2025, highlighted the cedi’s steep 13 percent depreciation against the U.S. dollar, citing its underperformance.

However, DKB, in a post on X, expressed a defiant perspective. He stated, “11 GH to the dollar is still better than 17 GH to a dollar.”

Meanwhile, individuals have argued that even amid recent declines, the cedi’s earlier stronger positions still offered a better value for Ghanaians compared to past depreciations.

Cedi slips further to sell at GH¢11.95 to one dollar

The Bloomberg assessment follows a period of dramatic fluctuation: earlier in the year, the cedi was hailed as the world’s best-performing currency with nearly 50 percent gains in the second quarter, buoyed by rising gold prices.

However, the demand for dollars, particularly for import payments ahead of the festive season, has put pressure on the cedi.
