Italian international of Ghanaian descent Mario Balotelli has been linked to Mexican side Cruz Azul.

The North American outfit are looking to enhance their squad and views the former Manchester City star as a valuable asset.

Balotelli has struggled for playing time at Genoa, marking only 56 minutes across six substitute appearances since joining the Rossoblu in October 2024 as a free agent.

The 34-year-old is said to be unhappy with his situation at the club and is contemplating parting ways ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The clause included in the deal allows both Genoa and Balotelli to terminate the contract before June 2025.

Balotelli is currently weighing up his options and could depart to join Cruz Azul, who would be willing to offer the Italian forward a contract worth 2 million euros per season.
