Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has acknowledged that it would be difficult to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), emphasizing the high level of competition among the participating nations.

Chelle pointed out that all 24 teams heading to Morocco boast strong squads and experienced technical staff, making the tournament more competitive.

“Yes, it’s going to be difficult to win because there are 24 very good teams and some excellent coaches,” Chelle admitted after the draw.

Despite the challenge, the Nigerian coach expressed determination to lead his team to glory, especially after losing the previous AFCON final to Ivory Coast.

“I know I’ve got a team that’s out for revenge, and I’m out for revenge too, so we’re going to have a lot of fun. We are out for revenge. We know what this team is capable of, and our goal is clear—to lift the trophy in Morocco,” he said.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania following the official draw on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The 2025 AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
