Controversial cleric and self-styled spiritual prophetess, Nana Agradaa, has taken center stage in the aftermath of Chairman Wontumi’s release from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, was reportedly released by EOCO on June 2, 2025.

While details surrounding his brief detention remain unclear, Agradaa whose real name is Patricia Asiedua, has claimed spiritual credit for his freedom.

In a livestream on her TikTok account, the leader of Heaven Way Chapel International boldly told her viewers that it was her “anointing” that led to Wontumi’s release, not legal processes or political influence.

“Please, I am not the one who bailed him. It is my anointing that resulted in his release. It was my favour that released him. That is all,” she said.

Agradaa explained that earlier that day, she had visited the EOCO headquarters in Accra and declared that her mere presence and spiritual aura influenced the environment, leading to Wontumi’s freedom.

“Yesterday, when I visited EOCO, my blessings splashed around the premises and even touched our dear brother, Chairman Wontumi, leading to him not being detained anymore.”

The televangelist urged Ghanaians to stop attributing the politician’s release to any other factor besides her spiritual power.

She warned detractors not to underestimate the power of an anointed person and prophesied blessings upon everyone who watched her live video.

“Whether Ghanaians like it or not, it was my anointing that was a contributing factor to his release,” she stated. “If you are an anointed person, wherever your feet land, it turns into a blessing.”

As expected, her remarks have stirred a frenzy on social media, with critics calling it a publicity stunt while her followers hail it as a manifestation of divine power.

The EOCO is yet to officially comment on the circumstances surrounding Chairman Wontumi’s detention or release.
