It was a moment of joy when the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) honored veteran Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Sparqlyn, known in private life as Ahmmed Kanneh Larweh, for his outstanding contributions to the music industry and youth development.

The ceremony, which took place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the National Theater during MUSIGA’s annual Akwaaba Festival, saw Sparqlyn receiving two plaques and a citation.

The plaques recognized his remarkable influence on Ghanaian music scene over the the last two decades, while the citation, bearing his chieftaincy title, Noryam Matse (Development Chief of Manye Krobo), also acknowledged his tireless efforts in mentoring the youth and fostering community development.

Reacting to the honor, Sparqlyn’s wife and manager, Maryann Nyarkoa, popularly known as Adipa, expressed her excitement and gratitude in an exclusive interview with some media personnel.

Adipa, who is also the CEO of Perfect Signature Limited and Makeup Talkartistry speaking about the honor also revealed that this was an award they had long waited for.

According to her, Sparqlyn has been in the music industry for years and has contributed immensely to its growth, making this recognition well-deserved.

“We are truly grateful to MUSIGA for this honor. It is something we have waited for a very long time. My husband has given so much to the industry, and it is fulfilling to see his efforts being recognized,” she said.

She further called on other prestigious award schemes to follow suit and celebrate veteran musicians who have played key roles in shaping Ghana’s music industry.

“There are many legends like my husband who have paid their dues so well. They have inspired generations of musicians and contributed greatly to the industry. I hope other award schemes will also recognize them and appreciate their impact while they are still alive,” she added.

The event, organized under the leadership of Madam Elizabeth Tagoe, the Greater Accra Regional MUSIGA Chairperson, saw several dignitaries, music industry stakeholders, and fans in attendance.

It was a night filled with electrifying performances and tributes, celebrating not just Sparqlyn but the legacy of Ghanaian music as a whole.
