The father of the 16-year-old boy involved in the sad accident that killed two little girls in East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024, and a well-known religious figure, Bishop Salifu Amoako, has demanded that public discourse on the matter stop.

The catastrophe that resulted in the girls’ horrific deaths has drawn a lot of public attention.

In his defense of his son, Bishop Amoako stressed that the accident was an unfortunate incident rather than a deliberate act of violence while speaking to his congregation at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20.

He asked Ghanaians to refrain from exaggerating the tragedy and to exercise restraint.

Bishop Amoako, who claimed that his son was involved in an unexpected and unfortunate accident rather than murder, expressed his intense anger with the public’s response.

He also asked the people to treat the situation with compassion, emphasizing that accidents, despite their devastation, are not crimes.

He further emphasized that his family’s suffering was being made worse by the continuous public outrage.

The bishop advised Ghanaians to refrain from making snap decisions on the case and to let the legal system do its thing.

“It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking, he stated.

He implied that the incident might not have garnered as much attention and indignation if it weren’t for his notoriety.

The bishop nevertheless asked the public to keep their attention on the facts and let the legal proceedings proceed without needless conjecture.

He emphasized that instead of being judged by his father’s position, his kid should be treated like any other person involved in a regrettable tragedy.

“Who would bring up the fact that this was an Okada [motorcycle] accident? Just because it’s my name, therefore don’t say anything and wait for the Lord to work.
