Since the news about the split between Apostle Solomon Oduro and Counsellor Charlotte Oduro broke, social media has been flooded with the man’s side of the story.
Apostle Solomon Oduro has outlined a long list of reasons why his marriage to Counsellor Charlotte Oduro fell apart, citing issues of disrespect, and emotional and physical abuse, among others.
The one-sided narrative of their breakup, as presented by Apostle Solomon Oduro, has taken over social media and was further emphasised in his petition to the court as part of their ongoing divorce proceedings.
Counsellor Charlotte Oduro on the other hand, has faced massive criticism from netizens, particularly women, due to her frequent teachings about women enduring toxic relationships.
Despite the backlash, Counsellor Oduro has chosen to remain silent.
However, an old video of her sharing some of the challenges she faced in her marriage has resurfaced on social media.
In the video circulating online, Counsellor Charlotte Oduro, while preaching to her congregation, revealed that she had been married to an extremely controversial man.
She openly stated that only someone like her could endure such a marriage, labelling it an incredibly difficult experience.
“It takes only me to be with that man. It was so hard to call my husband my lord. Because when I called him Apostle Solomon Oduro, he would get angry.
“It takes only me to stay with that kind of man. Any other woman would run because he is a controversial man. Very difficult to deal with. He is an Akyem man who wants to argue about everything,” she stated.
She emphasised that the success of a marriage depends on the woman and used herself as an example, describing all that she endured just to make her marriage work.
“Every marriage that will be successful depends on a woman. Sometimes, I look at young women these days and ask, with the way your nails are, can you pound fufu? For instance, my husband doesn’t eat ‘Neat fufu’. He doesn’t believe in eating food stored in the fridge for three days. He believes in fresh soup,” she said
She continued, “Sometimes when he tells me to make him food, it’s around 11:30 p.m. to 12 midnight. Meanwhile, he knows I’ve just returned from a preaching appointment.
“The whole time, he wasn’t doing anything; he was just waiting for me to come back. When I arrive, he will ask me to get down to prepare food. When he comes upstairs and sees me relaxing on the bed, he will say, ‘Maame, can you get down? Even when he knows you are busy, you still have to make fresh soup. And he is the type that anything you do, he will have something to say about it.”
Charlotte Oduro then mentioned that she has a question for God someday about the kind of man he gave her.
“Sometimes I tell God that he has answers to give me when I get to heaven because I don’t understand why he gave me this man,” she stated.
