Phyna is not interested in the debate, and she made sure everyone watching her livestream knew exactly where she stands.
The Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner took time during a recent livestream to address a conversation that follows almost every former housemate who comes out of the show looking different from when they went in. The moment someone loses weight, gets a BBL, or clearly visits a surgeon after their BBNaija cheque clears, the internet has a ready-made narrative: the money went to their body instead of something more sensible.
Phyna is not buying that narrative, and she said so without sugarcoating a single word.

“It is not money miss road,” she said, shutting down the idea that body enhancement surgery is a frivolous or irresponsible use of funds. She acknowledged the pattern people like to point out, that former housemates often get work done after the show, but argued that the real issue is not the surgery. It is the mindset of whoever is doing the criticising.
Her logic was straightforward. “If you have 20 million naira that you are not using, my dear, you will go and do surgery,” she said, putting the conversation in terms that were hard to argue with. She then went a step further and named what she believes is truly driving the criticism. “It is broke that you’re broke. It is money that you don’t have that is why you’re hating on it. If money touch you, you will go and do it.”
The comments landed with force, and clips from the livestream have since been making the rounds across social media platforms, drawing reactions from people on both sides of the body enhancement debate.
Some agreed completely, pointing out that Phyna was simply saying what many people think privately but are too afraid to admit publicly. The reality is that cosmetic procedures are increasingly normalised across Nigeria and beyond, and the idea that having them done represents some kind of moral failing has always been more about class judgment than genuine concern.

Others pushed back, arguing that there is a difference between spending money on surgery and spending it on assets or investments, a point Phyna’s critics have leaned on heavily since the clip began circulating.
What is clear, though, is that Phyna said exactly what she meant and meant every word of it. Whether you agree with her or not, the woman has never struggled to make her position known.
