    Bournemouth forward, Antoine Semenyo, has taken a walk down memory lane, reminiscing about his World Cup debut. The young striker made his first-ever World Cup appearance in Qatar in 2022 and has now shared his experience of representing the Black Stars on football’s biggest stage.

    In a candid reflection, Semenyo opened up about his time at the 2022 World Cup, where he was limited to brief appearances in two of Ghana’s group-stage matches.

    Speaking exclusively to Premier League TV, he recalled the immense pressure surrounding the tournament.

    “Pressure. It felt like pressure, to be honest. There’s a lot of pressure from the fans because we’ve got a good team, and we’ve got to do well. I agree with them — we have a very good team — so, there was a lot of expectation behind it. I think we needed to beat Uruguay to go through. Obviously, we lost. It was just frustrating,” he told the channel.

    The forward also acknowledged the disappointment felt by Ghanaian fans following the team’s elimination, emphasising their deep passion for the game.

    “You look into the stands, and all the fans were frustrated, angry, cussing at everyone — and that’s just the country in a nutshell. They just love football. Their entire week is determined by how well we do,” he added.

    Since earning his first cap for Ghana, the 25-year-old has gone on to feature in major international tournaments, including the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFCON. He has made 25 appearances for the national team, scoring twice.

    Meanwhile, the Black Stars are preparing for their next challenge in March 2025. They will face Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, a crucial step toward securing a spot in the prestigious tournament.
