Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has downplayed his recent individual success, insisting Leicester City must prioritize survival in the EFL Championship following a damaging six-point deduction for breaching financial regulations.

The Ghanaian winger, who won the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for February, emphasized that personal accolades hold little value if the team fails to secure its league status. Leicester’s situation has worsened after the sanction, leaving them second from bottom with only eight matches remaining in the campaign.

Speaking after receiving the award, Fatawu stressed the need for collective improvement as the Foxes battle to avoid relegation. He noted that while scoring goals and providing assists is important, the ultimate objective remains winning matches and ensuring the club stays in the division.

The 22-year-old has been a standout performer in a challenging season, registering nine goals and seven assists in 37 appearances. His attacking contributions, including a stunning long-range strike against Birmingham City, have offered Leicester a lifeline.

With the season nearing its conclusion, Fatawu’s focus remains firmly on helping the team secure crucial results.
