As of February 6, 2026, 21-year-old American streamer and YouTuber, IShowSpeed, has officially been recognized by Wikipedia as Ghanaian.

IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., recently embarked on an African tour covering 20 countries, including Ghana, while documenting his experiences through live-streaming.

During his stay in Ghana, he was hosted at the Akropong Palace, where a traditional naming ceremony was held. He was given the Ghanaian name Barima Kofi Akufo.

Prior to this event, IShowSpeed had publicly stated on several occasions that he has Ghanaian ancestry, particularly from his maternal side.

Now referred to as Barima Kofi Akufo, the streamer has embraced his new identity, and Wikipedia has updated his citizenship status to reflect both American and Ghanaian nationality.
