Fast-improving Japanese super bantam champ, WBC#20 Toshiya Ishii (10-1-2, 7 KOs; amateur 30-14), 121.5, impressively kept his national belt in his first defense as he withstood an opening attack of top contender Ryuya Tsugawa (14-3, 9 KOs), 122, and fought back so effectively that he finally battered him with the third man intervening to his rescue at 2:48 of the fifth round in a scheduled ten on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan.
