Ghanaian media personality Abena Moet has expressed concerns about the display of wealth among religious leaders.
In a submission on Neat FM on May 30, 2025, she questioned whether such displays of wealth by these individuals are for showmanship or showcasing God’s blessings on their lives.
“Someone was asking me, are they doing this for the Lord or for fans? “There are blessings, but doesn’t mean you must flaunt it?” she asked.
Her comments were prompted by a video showing Pastor Eric Boahen welcoming Bishop Ernest Agortey ahead of their much-publicised Velocity Conference.
Their outfits, however, sparked reactions, as both were adorned in designer outfits, jewellery, and sneakers.
Abena Moet contrasted this with secular artists like Stonebwoy, suggesting that while such displays might be expected in the entertainment industry, they are strange when exhibited by religious figures.
“We can’t compare a man of God to an artiste. If Stonebwoy wears bling to welcome Spice at the airport, why must pastors do the same?” she asked.
She also questioned the need for heavy security around pastors who preach about divine protection.
“If a man of God is preaching that God will protect us, why does he need security men around him? Why the soldiers and private security surrounding them?” she inquired.
