Former Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini, has criticised Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for questioning President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to appoint 60 ministers in his administration.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Fuseini rejected Afenyo-Markin’s suggestion that Mahama should apologise to Ghanaians for committing to this pledge.

He described the call as baseless, asserting that the president’s plan aligns with his promise to run a lean yet effective government.

Fuseini stressed that the president cannot violate his own promise to the people and firmly stated, “We are not going to accept that. As a member of the NDC, the president cannot violate his own promise to the people. We resist that.”

He further criticised Afenyo-Markin for what he described as hypocrisy, drawing attention to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s previous campaign promise to work with only 50 ministers.

“Is Afenyo suggesting that Bawumia was not being honest with Ghanaians when he said he would work with 50 ministers? And that if Bawumia had won, he would apologise to Ghanaians and raise the number beyond 50?” he questioned.

President Mahama’s decision to appoint 60 ministers has been part of his broader vision to run a streamlined government, sharply contrasting the 120 ministers of Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.

Meanwhile, watch as NDC supporters vandalise Ho Central office over government appointment
