Legendary Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Polo has questioned the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to retain Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

He called on the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to probe the GFA regarding the reasons behind their decision to keep the coach.

The former Hearts of Oak player noted that Otto Addo‘s inability to qualify the Black Stars for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco demonstrates his incompetence for the role.

“The Black Stars face a serious problem, and it all boils down to coaching. Despite the disappointment in the qualifiers, Otto Addo has been maintained. It’s mind-boggling to keep a coach who can’t qualify the Black Stars for AFCON.

“It would be prudent for Kofi Adams to investigate why Otto Addo was retained. Appointing a technical director to supervise a national team coach is a wrong call. Otto Addo should have been sacked after the AFCON qualification failure,” he told ghanasoccernet.

Polo called for Otto Addo‘s dismissal, suggesting that the technical advisor take charge of the team instead.

“If you appoint a technical advisor for him, it means the coach is not good enough. If Otto Addo were capable, he would have qualified Ghana for the AFCON. We should let him go and allow the technical advisor to take full charge of the team. For me, the technical advisor will do the job for him,” he added.

This comes after the GFA retained Otto Addo as Black Stars head coach and also appointed German coach Winfried Anton Schafer as Technical Advisor.
