Award-winning Afrobeats artiste, KiDi, has shared how he deals with online trolls, describing them as “sad people” projecting their own unhappiness onto others.

In a recent conversation on the Talk No Dey Cook Rice podcast, the “Lomo Lomo” hitmaker shared that his experiences with trolls has given him a tough skin, especially when he realised that such individuals are struggling with their own lives.

“Once I began to understand that I’ll never please everybody, life became easier.

“Even if I give someone 1 million, they’ll ask why it wasn’t 2 million. Some people are just unhappy, they hate themselves and project that onto others,” he shared.

According to KiDi, these internet trolls are having their internal battles and resort to making negative comments on celebrities to feel better.

“There are people out there who will come onto social media and say something to you — it’s not personal. They woke up this morning, they’ve not eaten. You come and post, ‘Hey, stream my music,’ and they’ll respond, ‘Look at this kwasia, why should I stream your music?’ It’s not personal. He’s angry inside about something happening in his personal life and is just projecting it onto me,” he shared.

He added that; “It’s not personal. They’re angry about their own lives and take it out on you.”

Despite the challenges of fame, KiDi said his coping mechanisms including daily affirmations to reinforce his confidence and self-worth.

He won the Best Collaboration of the Year award at the just-ended 26th TGMA for “Lomo Lomo” featuring Black Sherif.
