It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

    Inter continue Jones pursuit

Inter Milan are continuing to pursue Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones but have still to hit the Anfield club’s valuation.

The 25-year-old has cut a frustrated figure in recent months and has wanted more regular game time.

He has one year left on contract and Liverpool say they are relaxed about his situation.

Liverpool value the academy graduate around £30million but Inter’s last offer was just under £22m.

The Italian club were interested in January and proposed a loan with a view to a permanent move but that was also turned down by Liverpool.

Inter Milan are continuing to chase Curtis Jones but are yet to meet Liverpool’s valuation

Piero Ausilio, Inter’s sporting director, confirmed he was still on their radar earlier this summer, saying: ‘Curtis Jones – we are paying attention to him. We didn’t hide. We understand what the developments will be.’

Teammate Federico Chiesa, another who could depart, also told Italian media that Jones asked him what it is like to live in Italy.

The midfielder has been with Liverpool since he was nine and signed his first professional contract with them in 2018.

Inter yesterday confirmed the signing of England defender John Stones on a free transfer.

    Cherries swoop for Silva

Bournemouth have agreed their £25m deal with Benfica to sign defender Antonio Silva.

The 22-year-old centre back captained and played 90 minutes for Benfica in their emphatic 5-0 Europa League qualifying win against St Gallen last night.

The transfer is worth £21.4million plus £4.3m in add-ons.

The Portugal international is due to travel over this weekend to have a medical and complete his move.

    Leicester bring in Championship forward

Leicester City have signed Swansea City forward Liam Cullen for an undisclosed fee.

The Wales international, who has agreed a three year deal, can play as a centre-forward, attacking midfielder or right winger.

He previously worked under manager Russell Martin at Swansea.

Cullen, 27, said: ‘When this opportunity came about and with the size of the club and the project they’re getting started with now, I thought it was the perfect fit for me.’

Hammers trying to nail down Engels

West Ham are moving ahead on talks for Celtic midfielder Arne Engels.

The 22-year-old was the subject of bids up to £25million from Nottingham Forest in January which Celtic rejected.

West Ham have a long-held interest in the Belgium international and, after sounding out figures over a couple of conversations with the Scottish champions, are pressing to see if agreement can be reached on bringing Engels to London and making him the midfield replacement for Mateus Fernandes.

Forest, Sunderland and Fulham had also shown interest.
