Ghanaian actor and content creator, Jeffery Nortey has said that influencers and TikTokers can be considered as celebrities because they have large followings.

Speaking in an interview with AJ Poundz on Onua TV on June 2, 2025, Jeffery mentioned that influencers create impact, they are recognized and celebrated for their influence.

“Social media is our small god now. Social media is making stars and influencers and they have numbers…there are a lot of people on TikTok who have numbers,” he said.

Jeffery continued, “When they cough, everybody will cough; when they show up, people are screaming. Bants are running, they have influence. They are creating impact and they are being celebrated”.

He added that nothing can be done as influencers are tagged as celebrities because they handle brands better than some of the acclaimed celebrities.

“When they step out, people scream them. Brands are rushing to them, not your kind of star. So, let’s not attack the platform. The person is doing well; the person has numbers. The person is controlling and the person is a celebrity. Nothing can be done about it and it is what it is,” Jeffery said.
