    Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams shared his excitement over Athletic Club’s Copa del Rey round of 32 victory against UD Logroñés on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

    Athletic Club entered the game as clear favorites but were made to struggle by the Segunda RFEF side.

    Ernesto Valverde decided to reshuffle his team, starting some youngsters. However, when the going got tough, Valverde brought on his key players, including regulars Nico and Inaki Williams.

    Despite their efforts, the defending champions still failed to break down Logroñés’ defense, and the match went into a penalty shootout, which Athletic Club won 4-3.

    Inaki’s brother Nico was the only Athletic Club player to miss his penalty.

    After the game, Inaki Williams took to social media to express his excitement about progressing to the round of 16, while acknowledging the difficulty of the match.

    “To win any competition, you have to overcome these kinds of matches, which are very difficult. Objectives achieved. On to the next one,” he tweeted.

    The game marked Inaki’s first Copa del Rey appearance of the 2024/25 season. The forward has scored four goals each in the league and Europa League this season, in 18 and 6 appearances, respectively.
