The Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua, came to a halt Friday night as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wrapped up his campaign visit of the region.

It was a fitting end to an active campaign in the region, an NPP stronghold that its new and popular Candidate, Dr. Bawumia, is anticipated to secure in next week’s poll.

Dr. Bawumia had previously toured the majority of the region earlier in the campaign, but the Vice President cleared the last three constituencies on Saturday.

After an exhausting tour of the Oti Region the day before, he boarded a boat to traverse the Volta Lake into Afram Plains, where he met with key stakeholders and party supporters.

Following a warm greeting in Afram Plains, Dr. Bawumia traveled by plane to the regional capital, Koforidua, where he was greeted warmly in the New Juaben South and North Constituencies.

He first came in Jumapo and freely mingled with people on the streets and within the town before attending a stakeholders’ meeting in Asokore and then a community connect in Effiduase, which was highly attended.

The largest gathering of the night took place in Koforidua’s famous Jackson Park, where people gathered all day to welcome Dr. Bawumia.

The thousands that went had a great day as they proudly displayed party regalia, danced to party music, and sung in favor of the Vice President and local MP, Michael Okyere Baafi.

As Bawumia’s renowned blue bus arrived, the crowd went wild, with many attempting to catch a glimpse of him. And the moment the crowd had been waiting for arrived as he took the platform accompanied by party stalwarts, including Hackman Owusu Agyemang, a former MP from the area.

As Bawumia was presented, the crowd was energized by a chorus of “biibi be si,” which means “something is going to happen,” and has become one of the signature songs of the Bawumia For President 2024 campaign.
