Following a spectacular three-kilometer pursuit that left residents both relieved and afraid, police officers on Monday eliminated two armed thugs in a tense confrontation on Accra’s busy streets, according to citinewsroom today Monday.

The event happened early in the morning close to the Abossey Okai district, which is well-known for its bustling market for auto parts.

Speaking to reporters on the scene, Chief Superintendent Kwame Boateng declared, “This is a clear message.” “Crime is not profitable. Although these men believed they could intimidate innocent people, law enforcement will always win out.

When police received a distress call from a store owner reporting an armed robbery in progress, the pursuit got underway. Before attempting to escape on a motorcycle, the suspects allegedly took cash and valuables from a mobile money dealer they had targeted.

Officer Serwaa Mensah of the responding unit remarked, “As soon as we received the call, we immediately activated a patrol team in the area.” “The suspects shot at us instead of stopping when told to do so. We were forced to take serious action at that time.

The pursuit was described by witnesses as fierce, with the suspects swerving across traffic and firing back and forth with the police.

A cab driver who saw the pursuit, Kofi Adjei, remarked, “It was like a movie scene.” To escape being caught in the crossfire, people were fleeing in all directions. The cops displayed courage.

When the suspects lost control of their motorcycle and landed close to a work site, the chase came to a stop. The men reportedly fired once more in a last-ditch effort to flee but were quickly overwhelmed, according to the police.

Chief Superintendent Boateng declared, “They showed no concern for public safety.” “They put lives in danger by acting carelessly.” In order to safeguard our community, we reacted with similar vigor.

Along with the stolen money, the police found two weapons and multiple rounds of ammo. To find out if the deceased suspects were connected to any other local criminal activity, investigations are still underway.

Residents have commended the police for their swift response.

A shop owner named Akosua Nyame stated, “This is the kind of action we need.” “Accra has grown too dangerous, but the police proved they can protect us today.”
