Renowned Ghanaian music producer and sound engineer Awal Alhassan, popularly known as Possigee, has revealed that he is currently pursuing further education in Finland.

Speaking in an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, Possigee explained that his decision to return to school stems from the absence of retirement benefits or a pension scheme for creatives in Ghana.

“I haven’t stopped music production, but right now I’m furthering my studies in Finland because there’s no pension scheme for us, the sound engineers,” he told the station, as monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

He noted that the creative industry, particularly music production, has become highly competitive, and without continuous learning and adaptability, it is easy to become irrelevant.

“When we grow old, there’s no money that will be given to us as retirement benefits because the government hasn’t designed any pension scheme for us,” he lamented.

Possigee further highlighted the challenges established producers face, noting that many new artists prefer to work with their own producers, leaving experienced professionals behind.

“The industry is very competitive. When new artists emerge, they often don’t want to work with producers already in the system—they come with their own people.

“So, if you don’t upgrade yourself and prepare for the unforeseen, you may end up blaming the system,” he added.
