    The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has made his first public appearance since surviving a serious car crash on the Bolgatanga–Tumu road on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

    Speaking to the media after the State of the Nation Address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, February 27, 2026, he stated, “I just came to show solidarity. I’m still not fit yet. But thanks to all the Ghanaian people and the media for their love and care. You have shown me so much since the tragic accident.”

    The Ministry of Education confirmed that he was discharged from the 37 Military Hospital on February 14, 2026, after receiving treatment and being under medical observation for injuries sustained in the accident.

    The crash occurred in the early hours of February 12, 2026, while he was travelling with the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, and their teams to attend the 40th-anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region.
