Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has disclosed that he would support any opportunity for his sons to represent Ghana at senior international level if the chance presents itself.

CK Akonnor’s elder son, Charles Jesaja Herrmann, recently secured a move to German lower-tier outfit FC Bocholt, while his younger son, Charles Kwablan Herrmann, has signed for Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge as he continues his rapid development in European football.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, the former Ghana international described his younger son’s transfer to Belgium as a significant step in his football career.

Despite his willingness to see his sons wear the Black Stars jersey, Akonnor admitted that convincing them to switch nationality could prove challenging due to their upbringing in Germany.

“It’s difficult to convince them to come to Ghana because they grew up in Germany, but of course, if the need be or if the opportunity arises, we will be able to make that decision,” CK Akonnor said.

Akonnor’s remarks come at a time when Ghana continues to monitor and engage dual-nationality players across Europe as part of efforts to strengthen the Black Stars squad for future international competitions.
