The CEO of Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson, has boldly embraced the title of “propagandist” while highlighting the severity of Ghana’s current economic situation.

Speaking during an interview on Channel One TV, Joe criticised the government for failing to address the nation’s financial challenges, asserting that Ghana is in financial distress.

“Oh, I’m proud to take on the label of propagandist if that is what it takes to call it like it is. Listen, I’m fine. I’m very proud to stand up and say I’m a propagandist because I say Ghana is broke. Ghana is broke,” he stated.

“And being broke cannot be remedied by just international reserves. Please. I thought this was the government that said if the fundamentals are wrong, the exchange rate will expose it,” he added.

The CEO pointed to unresolved issues left by the outgoing government, including the budget deficit, inflation, and the exchange rate.

He argued that borrowing to sustain consumption, rather than investing in productive infrastructure development, is a clear sign of financial mismanagement.

“Where’s the exchange rate? Where’s the inflation rate? Where are the interest rates? Where is the unemployment rate? Please. Ghana is broke because we still cannot balance a budget, and we still have to borrow to consume. That is why we are broke.”

“By our definition, if you are paid and at the end of the month you still have to borrow to consume, not to undertake infrastructure, then you are broke. Borrowing to consume—by my books, you are broke, and that’s it,” he said.

He took a firm stance, reiterating, “I’m proud to be called a propagandist.”
