Ernestina Fosu, the elder sister of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba has said that she is not ready for the funeral date set for her brother.

Speaking to the media after court proceedings at the Kumasi High Court on October 28, 2025, Ernestina Fosu told reporters that she is not ready for the funeral, which has been scheduled for December 6, 2025.

Court dismisses Akosua Serwaa’s injunction on Daddy Lumba’s funeral

“I am not ready for my brother’s funeral on December 6, 2025,” she stated firmly in the video shared on social media.

Ernestina, who has stood by the musician’s widow, Akosua Serwaa, in the ongoing legal tussle over the funeral plans, also mentioned that they only want peace.

“Nobody’s looking for controversy; we all just want peace. With God, everything will fall into place. There’s no problem at all,” she said.

The dispute over the burial of Daddy Lumba stems from the announcement made by DL FM that his final funeral rites has been scheduled on December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The Highlife legend passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness.

After the funeral date was announced, Akosua Serwaa took the matter to the Kumasi High Court, seeking an injunction to stop the planned arrangements.

She argued that the decisions were made without the knowledge or approval of the late musician’s immediate family.

In a statement released on October 9, 2025, Akosua Serwaa said the announcement came as a shock to her and the children since they first heard about it on social media.
