Kennedy Agyapong is a former Assin Central MP and NPP presidential aspirant

A member of the camp of Kennedy Agyapong, George Opoku Amponsah has withdrawn from the team to pursue who he believes is the right candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party.

George Opoku Amponsah played an instrumental role in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential elections in 2024, acquiring votes for the former Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong, in some constituencies like Juaben and Ejisu.

Although Kennedy Agyapong was beaten mercilessly by his competitor, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, George’s role in Ken’s communications team cannot be underrated as he was a powerhouse running the campaign.

Ken’s loyalist no longer owes allegiance to him and though his reasons for leaving are not explicitly delineated, grapevine information indicates Ken’s seeming shenanigans and purported disrespect for people may have fueled George’s exit from the team.

“I regret to inform you of my decision to withdraw as a member of Team Ken Communications, effective immediately”, he said in an official statement.

He stressed he is now focusing on the right candidate for the party who, to many people, is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
