Great Olympics board member, Kudjoe Fianoo, has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Wonder Club despite their 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak in the 2025 Democracy Cup.

Fianoo, speaking to Citi Sports after the match at the University of Ghana Stadium, noted that the team showed promise in what was their first pre-season test.

The contest was played in front of a high-profile audience including President John Dramani Mahama, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, and Ga Mantse King Tackie Tsuru II.

Olympics, preparing for the 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League campaign, came up against a Hearts side that had already been tested in multiple competitions this offseason, including the President’s Cup, Gbese Mantse Cup, and the GHALCA Top 4.

Fianoo acknowledged the gulf in preparation but was encouraged by his side’s showing.

“They [Hearts of Oak] have been tried and tested, they’ve been very busy this offseason. This is our first outing and I’m so happy with what I’ve seen.”
