Ghanaian dancehall artiste Samini has expressed rare public praise for President John Dramani Mahama and the country’s judicial system. He commended their recent efforts to ensure greater accountability in public service.

During a conversation on PrimeTime with George Quaye on Joy Prime, the popular musician weighed in on the latest wave of high-profile prosecutions involving corruption, embezzlement, and money laundering. Samini, who has often voiced concerns about governance, struck a hopeful tone this time.

“As I speak to you currently, what we are seeing… I’m a happy Ghanaian,” he remarked. “I like the fact that people are being brought to book and justice is being served, or it seems like it is. Things like that, I am for.”

Samini emphasized that his support for any government isn’t based on political allegiance but on principled leadership and integrity. He stressed the importance of holding public servants accountable, regardless of their affiliations.

“If you are put in public office, it’s your responsibility to serve Ghana, and do anything dubious, you should be brought to book. I like that. Things like that, we like to see… That’s how we build a better Ghana.”

Asked directly if he believed President Mahama and his administration were performing well, Samini offered measured approval.

“The President and judicial system are doing a good job so far. That’s the area I’ve seen a lot of action. Anything else, I think it’s too early to throw too much light on.”
