Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has pushed back strongly against swirling rumors linking him to fraud, following recent arrests involving romance scam allegations.

The controversy began after the FBI apprehended several Ghanaians, including Isaac Kofi Oduro Boateng, popularly known as Kofi Boat and known to be an associate of Shatta Wale, in connection with alleged inheritance and romance scams. In the wake of public speculation, Shatta Wale took to social media to clear his name.

In a defiant video address, the ‘On God’ hitmaker asserted that his achievements are built solely on his music, not illicit activity.

“I’m a clean boy; my success is from music,” he declared.

Shatta Wale described the accusations as baseless and driven by envy. He suggested that critics were quick to associate him with fraud simply because of the scale of his success compared to others in the industry.

“You people are watching my life, and anytime there is an issue in Ghana, you like to drag me into it,” he said.

Wale continued by calling out what he believes is an orchestrated attempt to tarnish his image, especially by fans of other artistes.

“You guys are making a mistake with my name. I am a very clean boy. Just because your artiste, your industry favourite, cannot pull the kind of things I can pull, you assume I am into fraud. You are free to tell people I am into fraud,” he added.

Shatta Wale also stressed the importance of credibility, emphasizing that international entities, including those investigating such frauds, do their due diligence.

“One thing the white people coming here do is that they research. They are not stupid. They saw my Rolls-Royce and knew how I acquired the funds to purchase it. It’s music money. It’s not fraud; it’s hard work and dedication. So don’t make a mistake,” the Shatta Movement leader further stated.
