Ghanaian comedian DKB has responded to a viral video circulating on social media, where some patrons at president John Dramani Mahama‘s inauguration ceremony were heard hooting at former President Akufo-Addo.

In the said video, Akufo-Addo was seen walking toward John Mahama to congratulate him after being sworn into office. This caught the attention of individuals, including DKB, who took to social media to jab the former president.

In a post shared on January 8, 2025, DKB expressed that if he were in Akufo-Addo’s position, he would be ashamed.

“If it were me, I’d be very ashamed of myself being hooted at as a President,” he said.

The comedian, a known supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), went on to quote a statement by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, highlighting that Ghanaians, although generally gentle and patient, can be unforgiving when taken for granted.

“Nkrumah said it right: Ghanaians are very gentle and patient people, but if you take them for granted, they will also take you for granted,” he added.

    About Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony

The inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, drew massive attention both locally and internationally.

The event, held at the Black Stars Square in Accra, marked Mahama’s return to the presidency after previously serving from 2012 to 2016, making this a significant moment in Ghana’s political history.

The ceremony was attended by 21 Heads of State, three Vice Presidents, four Ministers, and 24 foreign envoys, highlighting the global recognition of Ghana’s peaceful transition of power.
