Congresswoman Ilhan Omar faced a brutal round of mockery online after an embarrassing moment resurfaced of her flubbing the pronunciation of World War II.
Footage from a press conference on January 22,2025 captured Omar calling for the repeal of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
President Trump officially enacted the law in March of 2025 to deport Venezuelan cartel members illegally in the country.
‘The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War 11,’ read the Democrat.
However, Omar immediately corrected herself after: ‘Oh… two… sorry.’
The resurfaced clip has prompted a slew of memes questioning the Representative’s intelligence, as well as a wave of insults.
‘How is this a sitting member of Congress?’ Asked one user. ‘I can ask a 5th grader how many world wars there were, and they’d be able to answer it correctly.’
‘This low-IQ clown doesn’t know American history. That’s not a simple blunder. She’s a puppet reading off a Q card who has no idea what she’s talking about,’ another added.

‘Typical ignorant liberal who looks down on people. Who doesn’t know the difference between Roman numerals and numbers? Let alone common knowledge of the world’s history.’
‘Can we really hold this against her? She “mistook” $18k for $30 mil. We already know she can’t count,’ a third wrote.
The resurfaced pronunciation blunder comes just weeks after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer demanded answers over what he described as ‘serious public concerns’ tied to Omar’s financial disclosures.
In a February letter to Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, Comer pointed to filings that appeared to show companies linked to the couple – eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital – ballooning in value from tens of thousands of dollars to as much as $30 million in a single year.
‘Given that these companies do not publicly list their investors or where their money comes from, this sudden jump in value raises concerns that unknown individuals may be investing to gain influence with your wife,’ Comer wrote.
Yet in a dramatic reversal, Omar’s office has since insisted those eye-catching figures were wrong.
An amended financial disclosure shows the couple’s assets actually fall between roughly $18,000 and $95,000 – a fraction of the earlier estimate.

Omar’s team has attributed the discrepancy to accounting errors, saying the congresswoman relied on financial professionals when filing.
‘The amended disclosure confirms what we’ve said all along: The congresswoman is not a millionaire,’ spokeswoman Jacklyn Rogers said earlier this month.
Few came to Omar’s defense, noting it was a simple mistake and likening the error to the moment President Trump stated in 2019 that the Revolutionary Army under George Washington had conquered ‘airports’ in the 1700s.
Trump claimed his teleprompter turned off, causing the mistake: ‘We had a lot of rain. I stood in the rain. The teleprompter went out,’ the president told reporters at the White House in 2019.
‘At the end, it just went out. It went kaput,’ he said, adding that it happened ‘actually right in the middle of that sentence, it went out.’
‘That’s not a good feeling. When you’re standing in front of millions of millions of people on television.’
‘I usually speak very well. I was able to do without a teleprompter,’ he added.
‘It was actually hard to look at anyway because it was raining all over.’
