A man has come online to shares the reason why he would never support the 50/50 ideology in marriage.

His tweet was a response to another tweet that encourage couples in the UK or abroad to share bill.

According to him, the push for 50/50 bill splitting is one of the major reasons why divorce rates in the UK remain so high.

He adds that such mentality was pioneered by Nigerian men who travelled abroad and adopted it in the diaspora.

“In the UK, 50/50 arrangements account for less than 27 percent of marriages,

and nearly all of them end in divorce, hostility or deep resentment.

Do you know that the dominant model in marriages across the US and UK still has the man as the primary provider?”, he reference.

That even if your wife is not working, you still need to run the home.

Her money should serve as support, something you can always rely on in times of need and not that you both should share equal bills.

“If you must split the bill equally with your wife, then you must also split chores equally. Other wise, you are not building a marriage; you are creating a roommate arrangement with benefits”

He concludes with the fact that, marriage thrives on love, and complementary roles, not strict financial scorekeeping.

@Melviniyke Marriage is about 2 individual bringing their best foots to build a successful family, A man can be a sole provider if the wife ain’t working. As long both are earning, every penny is for the family, I don’t really understand the essence of a woman working if not for the family —An X-user adds.
