Should Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia choose to run for president again in the 2024 elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it will stand by him no matter what. A spokesman for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, stated that if he decides to move forward with his ambition, the party and its leadership are ready to support him as their presidential candidate.

As the NPP looks to maintain its political dominance by “breaking the eight”—winning the next election to secure a third consecutive term in power—Aboagye underlined that Dr. Bawumia is the most qualified candidate to lead the party into a crucial election because of his vision and leadership abilities. This tactic depends on Bawumia’s shown capacity to bring the party together and keep its appeal across a variety of voting areas, especially those that are contested by opposition strongholds.

By concentrating on strategic battleground areas and attending to public issues, prominent campaign personalities such as Sammi Awuku have emphasized Bawumia’s capacity to neutralize threats from opposition parties, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to Awuku, Bawumia’s leadership style and capacity to attract a wide range of voter demographics are what make him appealing.

In addition, a recent survey shows that he has a lot of internal support, with many party delegates believing he is the most qualified candidate to win the election.

In order to guarantee stability and advancement for Ghana in the general elections of 2024, Bawumia himself has stated his confidence in winning the NPP presidential primary polls.
