A football fan has drastically divided opinion by sharing online a photo of his pre-match breakfast fry-up including tenderstem broccoli and smashed avocado nestling against scrambled egg and baked beans.
The Manchester United supporter posted on X, formerly Twitter, a snap of the meal ahead before heading to their League Cup quarter-final away to Tottenham Hotspur.
The social media user with the profile name Red Army 68 – a reference to the year the club won the European Cup for the first time – wrote: ‘Breakfast in city centre first then Spurs away.’
The image was swiftly latched on to by commenters, as well as being shared hundreds of times – with a mixture of scorn and praise in response.
One unimpressed onlooker, evidently put out by the green vegetables in display, reposted the image along with the remark: ‘If woke was a breakfast.’
A similar sentiment was offered by another, who suggested the order must have been along the lines of ‘Yea mate can I have a woke breakfast please’.
Other critics provided jibes such as ‘What in the woke is this’, ‘Might as well go for an all you can eat in your back garden’ and ‘That’s an atrocious breakfast’.
The original poster was also told ‘This is a crime‘, ‘This has got to be a joke’ and ‘You’re embarrassing Manchester’ – as well as being asked: ‘Did you start ordering breakfast then half way lean into dinner?’

The food selection divided opinion online, with both scorn and praise for his selections
Another remarked: ‘There should be nothing green on a full breakfast! It’s an abomination!’
There were further bad tidings ahead for the Red Devils fan, as his side were knocked out of the competition last Thursday night in a dramatic 4-3 victory for hosts Spurs.
He responded to the viral response to his photo by noting how his photo had ’caused a stir’, adding: ‘It’s gone international.’
He made a point of correcting people who suggested he had mushy peas on the plate, insisting it was avocado instead.
And the poster shared a link to the X account of the Ezra & Gil cafe where he enjoyed the meal in Manchester – adding: ‘Surprised how good quality it was + the coffee.’
There were plenty of people appearing inclined to agree, too, with admiring comments about the food photo mingling amid the criticisms.
One poster wrote: ‘Love it!! Had the similar combo this morning, mine was avocado toast with scrambled egg & chicken salad.’
Another commented: ‘All the haters will die away from heart attacks soon. Looks like a good meal.’

The diner was also told ‘Looks good, what are people on about?’ and ‘Bro why are they dragging you for this? That’s an elite breakfast.’
A more nuanced opinion came from someone who offered: ‘As a veggie I’d eat that but question the broccoli.’
A sceptic posted a gif of former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho shaking his head and wagging his index finger.
But there was backing from another, who wrote: ‘Dunno what people complaining about that’s an absolute scran.’
