    Celebrity lawyer, Stan Alieke, has taken to social media to advise people on what to do whenever someone promises to give them something.

    He stated via his Instagram story that whenever someone promises one a gift, especially a high-value gift, one should ensure the promise is made in writing.

    This comes just hours after the internet got hold of a leaked voice call, in which a socialite spoke about how singer Burna Boy allegedly neglected her after promising to buy her a Lamborghini.

    Reacting to this, Stan stated an agreement is only an agreement when it is made in writing, if not the other party can renege in his promise.

    He also added that these are basic laws one should know, so that people don’t outsmart one while dealing with them.

    His post read;

    “Unrelated but if someone promises to gift you, insist that the promise is made in writing especially when the gift in question is a high-value one like a Lambo or a house.

    Agreement is only agreement when it is made in writing if not the other party can renege in his promise & you won’t have anything to show for it.

    Also when a person is to buy you a property as a gift, ensure that the property is purchased in your name, if it’s already in the name of the giver, ask the giver to legally transfer the gift to you through a deed of gift.

    This is to say that a house or a car that was given to you that still has the name of the giver in its documents doesn’t legally belong to you yet, the giver can take it back. Know these basic laws so people don’t outsmart you.”
