Former Real Madrid player Toni Kroos has expressed concerns about the Saudi Pro League, SPL, over the current disagreement involving Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Al-Nassr forward has not been available for the past two matches because of a dispute with the club’s owners.

Kroos spoke about the situation in a chat with Bryan Nassr, saying that the Saudi Pro League’s current attention is largely because of his former teammate.

The ex-German midfielder confidently stated that the league would lose its viewers immediately if Cristiano Ronaldo decides to leave.

“The Saudi league is a world apart. Nobody knew about it before Cristiano arrived. Now they’re not respecting the man who made them famous worldwide,” he said via Foot Mercato.

“I’m telling you, if Ronaldo leaves tomorrow, no one will watch this league anymore.”

Toni Kroos and Ronaldo played together at Real Madrid from 2014 to 2018, before Ronaldo moved to Juventus.

Kroos retired in 2024 after a distinguished career in which he won the FIFA World Cup and played for both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Even though Ronaldo is older than Kroos, he still appears to be performing very well, as shown by his impressive stats in Saudi Arabia.

He signed a contract with Al-Nassr last summer that was supposed to last until 2027, but recent developments may mean he won’t be able to complete it.
