Ghanaian artiste, Krymi, has expressed his preference for a sub-contract with a record label, rather than a full record label deal.

In an interview with Onua FM, Krymi said that having a sub-contract with a record label allows him to maintain creative control and ownership of his music.

He believes that this approach gives him the freedom to focus on his artistry and produce music that is true to his vision, without being tied down by the limitations of a full record label deal.

“You can have a contract… entering into a record label will help some people. But I would rather do a sub-contract with a record label to have label services or certain things that I think the label will be able to do better for me.

“That’s what you see all the big artists like Wizkid do. They all have sub-contracts with the likes of empire and Sony. But signing fully into a record label, I don’t think I will be interested in that,” he said.

He maintained that with a sub-contract, he will be able to collaborate with a record label on specific projects, while still maintaining his independence.

Krymi’s preference for a sub-contract over a full record label deal shows his desire to produce authentic and meaningful songs.

As the music industry continues to reign, it will be interesting to see how this approach works out for him and whether other artists would follow in his footsteps.
