KOD is the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the presidency

Renowned Ghanaian media personality and Director of Diaspora Affairs at the presidency, Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Ghana’s creative arts industry.

Speaking to GhanaWeb’s Alfred Kumah during the launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025 on September 17, KOD emphasised that creatives will be actively involved in every project undertaken by his office.

KOD stressed that the creative industry plays a pivotal role in the country’s economy, and therefore, cannot be overlooked when it comes to projecting Ghana on the global stage.

“As someone in the creative space, there’s no way that I would drive any agenda without a creative element. At the launch, you saw Kwanpa performing, and that’s who we are as a people.

“Creativity is part of us and the creative industry; the creative space can’t be relegated when we think about projecting Ghana to the next level,” he said.

He also acknowledged the vital contributions of Ghanaians living in the diaspora.

According to him, the country has already generated close to GH¢6.8 billion in remittances from the diaspora this year.

“It goes beyond remittances. In terms of remittances, before the year even ends, we’ve received about GH¢ 6.8 billion from the diaspora already.

“If we’re very intentional to affect them, you know, and engage them, I think we could do so much as a country. There’s not a single country that made it big without the diasporas,” he added.
