Head coach of Turkish club Fenerbahce, Jose Mourinho, has hit back at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola over a comment he made concerning Premier League titles.

The Spaniard dismissed comparisons between himself and former Chelsea boss Mourinho regarding their stints in the English Premier League.

Speaking to the media ahead of Manchester City’s game against Nottingham Forest, Guardiola reiterated that he has won six Premier League titles, while Mourinho has won fewer.

“I hope not in my case [his domination in the EPL coming to an end like Mourinho]. In the end, maybe I am quite similar to Jose. He won three, and I won six [Premier League titles],” he said.

In response to the comment, Mourinho, unhappy with the remark, stated that he won the three Premier League titles without dealing with any lawsuits, unlike Guardiola.

The Portuguese manager took a dig at Guardiola, saying he is proud to have won the Premier League titles cleanly rather than being accused of wrongdoing.

“I want to win, but I want it cleanly. If I can’t win cleanly, I prefer to lose. Guardiola said something to me yesterday: He won six trophies, I won three, but I won cleanly. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 lawsuits,” Mourinho said, as reported by EuroFoot.

The criticism comes after Guardiola showed a six-finger gesture to the Liverpool supporters while they were taunting him after a defeat at Anfield.

Manchester City have won six Premier League titles, with five in a row making a record.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho also won three Premier League titles during his stint with Chelsea.

Manchester City are facing 115 charges from the English FA over Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations breaches with the outcome yet to be announced.
