Prophet Kumchacha is the founder of Heaven’s Gate Minintries

Prophet Kumchacha has expressed strong concerns over the ongoing disputes surrounding the funeral arrangements of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, suggesting that the ceremony should be postponed for an entire year.

Speaking on United Showbiz on November 16, 2025, Kumchacha disclosed that the persistent controversies, especially the recent uproar over the alleged GH₵30,000 withdrawal by the family head have overshadowed preparations and created unnecessary tension among those involved.

“If not that the elders have set the funeral date to December 13, I wish the funeral could be postponed for a year. Daddy Lumba should be in the mortuary for a year so that all these shenanigans will cool down,” he said.

According to him, the disputes re-emerged at a time when the funeral arrangements were nearly complete, causing frustration and fueling public criticism.

He questioned Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu’s justification for the controversial GH₵30,000 withdrawal, arguing that as the family head, catering for the late musician’s wives should be his responsibility.

“We were almost done and now, the family head’s money issue popped up again. He is claiming he paid for the goat and gave both women money for upkeep. What if that money wasn’t available?

“He is the elder in the family and it’s his responsibility to cater for the wives. Where would he have gotten the money from? He said he went to get a loan, the GH₵30,000 that’s supposed to be saved could have been sent somewhere they would not touch the money,” he noted.

Kumchacha shared that the family head has been associated with issues from the beginning of the funeral planning process, a situation he believes has discouraged many supporters from actively participating.

“From day 1, people have been tagging him with problems. If not that the elders have confirmed the date, I really wish they could postpone the funeral. Many people have given up on the funeral already. Even though I believe people will show up for the funeral but they would show up more if there were no controversies going on,” he added.
