The All Peoples Congress presidential candidate (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has vowed to make corruption unattractive if he becomes President.

According to him, he will wage a ruthless fight against graft and ensure that anyone engaging in corrupt activities is dealt with severely according to the law.

Speaking at an event in Accra, Hassan Ayariga stated that he would demonstrate his zero tolerance for corruption by spending his first night in office as President in prison—a symbolic act meant to serve as a warning to those tempted by corruption.

“I pledge on my honour that I shall never engage in corruption in my lifetime as President, as a father, as a young man, or in any capacity in Ghana. I want to pledge to all of you that when I become President, I will spend my first night in prison. This will signal that anyone caught in corruption under my leadership will face the same treatment. Let us be serious,” Ayariga said.

With barely three weeks to the general elections on December 7, political campaigning has intensified, with the various parties going to every length to sell their message to the electorate.

A President and 275 Members of Parliament will be elected on election day to govern the country for the next four years.

Political analysts say the general election is a two-horse race between the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the incumbent Vice President, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, who is also a former President.
