The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture-designate, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has pledged to fix bad roads that lead to tourist sites in the country.

Dzifa Gomashie, who was before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, noted that she will lobby the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, to ensure good roads to tourist sites in the country.

“I am not sure the roads and highways minister is not aware of the situation in our region. I know the passion he comes to do with everything. I will push as hard as I can to ensure he gives attention to roads that lead to tourist destinations,” she said.

Dzifa Gomashie added that quality roads to tourist sites will generate investments and revenues for the country.

“When that is done, they will bring investment back to the country. Also, if the roads to these destinations are fixed, it will increase trips there and he will get the benefit, so, I will lobby as hard as I can,” she added.

Dzifa Gomashie appeared before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, for her vetting, which will determine her confirmation as the substantive Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

She was nominated for the position on January 16, 2025, in a statement signed by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Having served as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture under the Mahama administration from 2013 to 2017, Dzifa Gomashie is also a two-term Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, where she has championed development and community empowerment initiatives.
