Apostle Lilian Owusu, widow of the late former Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Dr John Ampontuah Kumah, has addressed her recent remarriage following widespread debate on social media.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at her church on Sunday, December 21, 2025, Apostle Owusu explained the circumstances surrounding her decision to remarry, stating that it was a carefully considered step rooted in faith, love and personal conviction.

According to her, the decision to move on with her life was not influenced by public pressure but by a conscious resolve to look forward rather than dwell in the past.

She described her new marriage as one founded on love and prayer, insisting that the relationship was not entered into lightly.

“I believe in forward ever, backwards never and by the grace of God I prayed to God that for me I can’t go out and I have made up my mind to move forward.

Confusion erupts as late John Kumah’s wife remarries a year after his demise

“I will not allow pain to cage me. I have a lot to do. This is the culture of the family, no matter what comes, we look at the positive side and we move forward and by the grace of God… my prayers and my request, God carry a man to the house of God.

“They came for business alliance and it was love at first sight, as soon as he saw me, he pursued and fortunately, it was just within the time I was ready, “she said.

“We have been praying and God, and God those answers prayers, has given us a calm man and he is not a replacement, nobody has said we have gotten a replacement. “

Lilian Owusu remarried approximately 18 months after the death of her husband, Dr John Kumah, who passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 45 to Samuel Aryeequaye.

Now known as Apostle Lilian Aryeequaye, the widow is the founder, senior pastor and general overseer of Disciples of Christ Ministries, also referred to as Disciples of Christ Ministries Worldwide.

News of her remarriage has generated intense discussion on social media, particularly on X, where users have expressed sharply divided opinions.

Some critics argued that the remarriage came too soon after the legislator’s death, while others made cynical remarks about relationships and loss, with comments such as, “Just know you can be replaced when you’re no more,” and “Fake tears all because the support system is gone.”

However, many users have rallied to her defence, insisting that widowhood should not condemn a woman to a lifetime of loneliness.
