Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo has cleared the air about her relationship with Charterhouse, stating that she holds the organisation in high regard and will never turn down an invitation from them.

Speaking in an interview on 3FM, she addressed rumours that she values foreign red-carpets more than those in Ghana.

She denied such claims and emphasised the strong bond she has with Charterhouse, the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

“Charterhouse for me is home, Charterhouse gave me the first platform to fame, they groomed me to become the woman I am, I can never take that space for granted,” she said.

Nana Akua Addo made it clear that no matter how big her brand becomes, she will never feel too important to attend an event organised by Charterhouse.

“There will be no day that Charterhouse will invite me, and I will feel I am bigger, never. The relationship I have with Charterhouse is personal, they have groomed me for who I am and I can never take that for granted,” she stated.

The fashion icon also used the opportunity to call on Ghanaian event organisers to raise the standard of red-carpet events in the country.

According to her, the red-carpet culture in Ghana has grown, and event planners need to be more thoughtful when selecting personalities to appear.

“Our space, that is, coming on the red carpet, has come of age where organisers need to think about how to select certain people they want on the red carpet and also pay attention to the appearance fee because whatever we do, we have to pay these vendors,” she added.
