Parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo, has announced plans to introduce a “school and work” program if elected as Member of Parliament for the area.

In a post shared on X on November 13, 2024, the actor-turned-politician stated that as part of his policy agenda, he aims to implement a program that allows university students to work remotely while pursuing their studies.

Dumelo emphasised that the initiative would help alleviate economic challenges faced by university students.

“When I become Ayawaso West MP, I will initiate the SAW; [the] School And Work program. University students can work remotely for various companies while studying on campus. #idey4u,” he posted on X.

However, his announcement has since sparked mixed reactions among netizens.

While some have questioned the feasibility and implementation of the program, others have praised the idea as a positive step towards supporting students in the constituency.

Many of us students suffer a lot because we rely on a single source of income, which is often from our parents. Some don’t even have that support to take care of themselves.

    Implementing this policy would…

    2. Public sector or Private sector?

    3. Why online and not physical?

    4. Looking at the high prices of internet Data, are you willing to provide, that too and the accessories for the work?
