Popular gospel musician and staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, Evangelist Diana Asamoah, has expressed her interest in securing a political appointment under President John Dramani Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Speaking on her popular *Akoko Abon* show on Angel FM, the celebrated gospel artiste, known for her unwavering support for the NPP, stated that President Mahama’s leadership is for all Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliation.
“Mahama is here for all of us. I always say there is no money with NDC or NPP’s name on it. So, if the NPP comes to power, I will spend Ghanaians money because it belongs to all of us. If the NDC comes to power, I will do the same. If you look at the Ghanaian cedi, neither NDC nor NPP is written on it. President Akufo-Addo’s or John Mahama’s names are not written on any money,” she said.
Evangelist Diana Asamoah, famous for her hit song ‘Anopa Wim,” added that she has no issue with individuals supporting either the NDC or NPP when they are in power.
She revealed that she is waiting for the NDC government to settle into office before approaching President Mahama to discuss a potential political role.
Specifically, she expressed her desire for the president to establish a Ministry of Paternity Leave and appoint her as its minister.
“Since they (NDC) have returned to power, I am waiting for them to finish getting their affairs in order so I can go to President John Mahama and ask him to appoint me as the Minister for Paternity Leave, since he has not appointed anyone for that sector yet.,” he said.
Despite her interest in collaborating with the NDC government, Evangelist Diana Asamoah reaffirmed her loyalty to the NPP, describing it as her favorite political party.
“The NPP is my favourite party; I will never leave it. I am choosing the NPP. But I will support any government leading Ghana,” she said.
Addressing critics who suggested she insulted former President Nana Akufo-Addo following his exit from office, she dismissed such calls, stating, “It is not sensible to insult the elderly; such actions have serious consequences. If you want to live a good life, do not insult your elders.”
Evangelist Diana Asamoah played a significant role as a campaigner for the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and continues to be one of the party’s most vocal supporters.
