Ghanaian musician and lyricist, Samuel Ofei Ankrah Badu, popularly known as AratheJay has shared an unpleasant situation where he wasn’t allowed to show up at an event because of his mask.

Speaking in an interview with Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb TV on July 10, 2025, AratheJay mentioned that the event was a big dinner, and he was told that he couldn’t be there in his mask.

According to him, inasmuch as he wasn’t happy with what was said to him, he knows what the mask symbolises to him, so he didn’t bother attending.

He mentioned this when talking about some of the interesting things someone has said about his look.

“Some interesting thing that happened was me not allowed to attend a big dinner in my mask. I just said cool. I actually see them some way though,” he stated.

AratheJay confirmed that he is often stereotyped because of the mask he wears, as it is commonly associated with hooligans.

However, he added that he isn’t the kind of person who lets others’ opinions affect him.
