Popular gospel musician, Frank Tagoe, popularly known as Perez Musik, has shared the harrowing experience he faced while struggling to find blood donors to save his mother’s life during her battle with cancer two years ago.

In a viral video making waves on social media, the “Hewale Lala” hitmaker spoke at a blood donation exercise, recounting the challenges his family endured in securing blood for his mother’s regular transfusions.

“About two years ago, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and her treatment required regular blood transfusions. Every week, we had to search for blood, and it became an overwhelming task,” Perez Musik shared.

He disclosed that the family often encountered situations at hospitals where they were told there was no blood available.

He said some opportunistic individuals took advantage of their desperation by selling blood at inflated prices.

“Sometimes, we’d arrive at the hospital, only to be told there was no blood available. And to make matters worse, some people would sell blood to desperate families like mine. We were spending approximately GH₵2,800 every week just to get the blood my mother needed,” he recounted.

Perez Musik then expressed gratitude to his former assistant, whose blood donor card enabled his family to access the vital blood during their time of need.

“Fortunately, my assistant at the time was a blood donor, and her donor card helped us get the blood my mother desperately needed,” he said.

He emphasized that the experience had taught him the critical importance of blood donation and its life-saving impact.

Perez Musik called on Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of donating blood to ensure that others don’t have to face the same challenges his family did.

“This is why I urge everyone to find it in their hearts to donate blood and help address the shortage in our hospitals. Let’s work together to ensure no family has to go through what mine did,” he passionately appealed.
